OMAHA, Neb. – Creighton men's tennis head coach Tom Lilly announced the signing of Yuma Daijima for the 2022-23 season.
"Yuma is a talented player that has long been regarded as one of the top junior players in Japan," Lilly said. "He wanted to challenge himself on the court and in the classroom and we feel that Creighton is a great fit in that regard."
Daijima, a native of Tokyo, Japan, led his Tokyo Gakken Urayasu High School to a runner-up finish in the National High School Tennis Championships last spring, where he spent the majority of the year playing at the team's No. 1 singles.
Daijima holds a 594 ranking through the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and owns a Universal Tennis Rating of 11.1.
"We are excited that he chose Creighton and believe he will make an immediate impact as a freshman," Lilly added.
The Bluejays conclude the regular season of their 2022 spring schedule on Friday at home against Doane. First serve is set for 4 p.m. at the Hanscom Tennis Center.
