#22 Volleyball Sweeps Villanova, 3-0

Norah Sis and Ava Martin pace Bluejays with 23 combined kills
OMAHA, Neb. -- Powered by a combined 23 kills from sophomore Norah Sis and freshman Ava Martin, No. 22 Creighton Volleyball disposed of Villanova in straight sets on Sunday, Sept. 25.
Set scores for the match were: 25-17, 25-15, 25-18.
With the win the Bluejays moved to 10-3 on the season and 2-0 in BIG EAST action, while Villanova fell to 4-10 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
The opening set turned Creighton's way early as the Bluejays scored six of the first seven points and went on to build an 11-3 edge. During the opening 14 points, Sis delivered three kills and Martin added in a pair. Creighton scored on all but two Villanova serves in the set, for an 88.9 sideout percentage.
The Wildcats got off to a better start in the second set, taking the lead on three occasions, but the Bluejays took control via a 5-1 run with the set tied at 10-10. Sis opened the surge with a kill and gave Creighton a 15-11 edge with her eighth ace of the season. Martin and senior Kiana Schmitt each added a kill during the Creighton run. Leading 21-15 moments later the Bluejays closed the set with four straight points, capped by a kill from senior Keeley Davis.
Tied 5-5 early in the third set, the Bluejays created separation with a 10-3 surge. During the run the Bluejays forced Villanova into four attacking errors, collected a pair of service aces, two kills by Davis and one each from Sis and sophomore Kiara Reinhardt. Villanova closed within four at 22-18, but the Bluejays responded with the final three points on a kill from Martin, a Villanova attacking error and a service ace by junior Ellie Bolton.
Sis led all attackers with 12 kills in the match, while Martin finished with 11 kills. Davis led the Bluejays with 10 digs and Kendra Wait and Bolton both served up two aces. Creighton had 43 kills, seven aces, 34 digs and six blocks on .320 hitting.
Villanova got a match-high eight kills from Rose Crist in the loss. The Wildcats recorded 29 kills, three aces, 33 digs and four blocks while hitting .090.
Creighton returns to the court on Wednesday, Sept. 28 as the Bluejays host Xavier at 6:30 p.m. in D.J. Sokol Arena.
