OMAHA, Neb. -- No. 17 Creighton Volleyball hit an absurd .488 -- third-best in program history, and saw two-time All-American Norah Sis return to play in the back row in a 3-0 sweep over Georgetown on Friday, Oct. 13. The match was Creighton's 15th straight Pink Out victory, and improved the Bluejays to 19-0 all-time against the Hoyas.
Scores of Creighton's (14-4, 5-2 BIG EAST) sweep were 25-10, 25-13, 25-18.
Creighton opened the match with a kill from Kendra Wait and Sis immediately checked in for the first time since suffering an injury on September 5th. Fighting back tears, Sis's first serve couldn't be returned as she picked up an ace. Her next serve attempt clipped the net and dropped untouched, giving the Bluejays an early 3-0 lead. Sis later matched her career-high with a third ace later in the set, part of CU's 25-10 victory in the opener. Creighton took a 10-4 lead early in the second set and the margin grew to 20-11 on the first career kill of libero Ellie Bolton's career. A kill from freshman Destiny Ndam-Simpson closed out the 25-13 Bluejay win in the second set as the Jays hit .370 and procured four more blocks. Georgetown (12-8, 3-5 BIG EAST) was held to .000 hitting in the frame.
Creighton trailed 6-4 early in the third game before an 8-1 run flipped the momentum back in CU's favor. The Hoyas hung closer and were within 18-16 before Sky McCune's three-point serving run pushed the margin to 21-16. CU won the match on Georgetown's third blocking error of the night. Kiana Schmitt had five kills and Ndam-Simpson and Ava Martin both added four terminations during the third set, which saw CU hit .471 with 19 kills. Kendra Wait dished 14 assists in the third frame as part of a well-rounded night that saw her finish with 29 assists, eight digs and eight kills on .800 hitting.
Schmitt hit .600 with 10 kills in 15 swings while Martin (9 kills, .400 hitting) and Ndam-Simpson (8 kills, 467 hitting) helped the Bluejays turn in one of their most dominant offensive displays in program history. CU tied a season-high with nine aces. Sis had six digs, three aces and two assists in her return, playing only in the back row.
Georgetown was led by eight kills from Mary Grace Goyena, while libero Karis Park added a team-best nine digs. The Hoyas hit .167 and finished with 30 kills, two aces and 28 digs but became the first CU opponent since 2021 (also Georgetown) to not record a block.
