Bluejay Men's Soccer Battles for 2-2 Draw at St. John's

Queens, N.Y. -- Down 2-0 late in the first half Bluejay Men's Soccer team punched in a late goal in the opening half and the equalizer early in the second period to earn a 2-2 draw at St. John's on Saturday, October 28.
Following the result on Saturday, Creighton moved to 4-6-6 on the season and 3-3-2 in BIG EAST play, while St. John's moved to 8-3-5 overall and 3-1-4 in conference action.
The Red Storm took a 2-0 lead thanks to a pair of goals from Nicolas Fleuriau Chateau in the 29th (28:17) and 41st (40:07) minute respectively.
Creighton answered with 41:14 on the clock as Jackson Castro found Alfie Pope eight yards in front of the net to half the deficit and send the Bluejays into the locker room with the momentum.
Early in the second half the Bluejays brilliantly executed a counter attack as Giorgio Probo lofted a pass across the pitch of at least 40 yards to Miguel Arilla. The freshman from Castellon, Spain fielded the pass in stride, beat a Red Storm defender and blasted home the equalizer with exactly 40 minutes remaining.
Both squads battled throughout the final 40, firing a combined 19 shots in the second half. In the match St. John's held the shot edge, 19-12 and 10-9 in the second half.
Creighton will open the BIG EAST Tournament at Providence on Saturday, November 4. The start time of the match has been set for 3:00 pm (CT). While St. John's hosts Connecticut in the opening round.
