11/27/2023 2:02:00 PM | Volleyball
The Bluejays moved up three spots to ninth in the NCAA's eighth official RPI release of the fall, a season-best.
Creighton (27-4, 16-2 BIG EAST) has lost just one set in its last 15 matches and hit .356 in that span while outscoring foes 1,152-760. Just four of CU's last 14 opponents have scored more than 21 points in any set.
The Bluejays are one of 15 schools (along with Baylor, BYU, Florida, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Louisville, Nebraska, Oregon, Penn State, Pitt, Purdue, Stanford, Texas and Wisconsin) to have been ranked each of the last 45 polls. Creighton has been ranked in all but six of the past 114 weeks the AVCA has put out a Top 25 poll and 122 times in program history, which is 38th-most among all programs all-time. Creighton is 199-44 all-time when playing as a ranked team in the AVCA poll.
CU's all-time best ranking in program history is No. 7, which came in the poll released on Aug. 28, 2017, and its best ranking this fall has been No. 11 on Sept. 18th. This is the 12th straight season that Creighton has spent at least one week in the top-25, extending another program record.
Despite suffering its first loss of the fall last Friday, Nebraska remained in the top spot and is followed in the top-five by Stanford, Wisconsin, Pittsburgh and Texas.
Creighton's 12th straight NCAA Tournament appearance will start on Friday at 6:30 p.m. when the Bluejays host Patriot League champion Colgate in First Round action. Also coming to Omaha will be Utah State and Minnesota, both of whom received votes in this week's AVCA poll.
