It's the eighth time in the last nine seasons that Creighton has been ranked in the year-end AVCA poll, something only 11 schools (BYU, Creighton, Florida, Kentucky, Minnesota, Nebraska, Penn State, Purdue, Stanford, Texas and Wisconsin) can claim.
Creighton has now been ranked in the year-end poll on nine occasions. The Bluejays were No. 24 in 2012, No. 19 in 2015, No. 9 in 2016, No. 16 in 2017, No. 13 in 2018, No. 16 in 2019, No. 22 in 2021 and No. 21 in 2022 before today's No. 15 ranking.
Over the last 16 seasons, 295-of-400 teams (73.8 percent) have been in both the preseason and postseason AVCA Top 25 polls, as all but No. 7 Minnesota, No. 12 Marquette, No. 13 San Diego, No. 14 Ohio State, No. 23 Rice were in both the preseason and year-end poll this fall.
The Bluejays are one of 15 schools (along with Baylor, BYU, Florida, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Louisville, Nebraska, Oregon, Penn State, Pitt, Purdue, Stanford, Texas and Wisconsin) to have been ranked each of the last 46 polls. Creighton has been ranked in all but six of the past 115 weeks the AVCA has put out a Top 25 poll and 123 times in program history, which is 38th-most among all programs all-time. Creighton is 201-45 all-time when playing as a ranked team in the AVCA poll.
CU's all-time best ranking in program history is No. 7, which came in the poll released on Aug. 28, 2017, and its best ranking this fall has been No. 11 on Sept. 18th. This is the 12th straight season that Creighton has spent at least one week in the top-25, extending another program record.
Back-to-back national champion Texas topped the poll, finishing just ahead of Nebraska, Wisconsin, Pittsburgh and Stanford.
Creighton, which earned a 12th consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament this fall, finished the season with a 29-5 record. The Bluejays won their 10th straight regular-season BIG EAST title while also capturing the BIG EAST Tournament title for the ninth time in the past 10 seasons. Creighton reached as high as No. 11 in the AVCA poll this fall (Sept. 18) and was ranked 17th entering the NCAA Tournament.
