OMAHA, Neb. – Creighton women's tennis head coach Tom Lilly announced the signing of Elsa Jurrens for the 2023-24 season.
"We are excited to have Elsa join our tennis team next season," Lilly said. "I feel like she has been a part of the Creighton tennis family for a long time as we see her often at Hanscom and her family has been around CU tennis since her mother played for me during my first season as the head coach. Elsa has talent and I believe she will continue to develop when she gets here, practicing daily with our team starting next fall."
Jurrens, a native of Omaha, is a two-time Nebraska Class A Singles State finalist, recently helping Marian high school to a third-place finish at the 2022 Class A State Tournament. As a junior, Jurrens compiled a 29-5 overall record while collecting a Metro Conference No. 1 Singles championship as well as a fourth-place finish at the Class A No. 1 singles State Tournament.
As a sophomore, Jurrens played a key role in Marian earning a fourth place at the Class A State Championships. She recorded a 22-8 overall record, securing a runner-up finish in the Class A No. 1 Singles State Tournament.
Her effort on the court helped her earn Nebraska High School Tennis Coaches Association Class A First Team All-State honors as a sophomore and Class A Second Team All-State honors as a junior.
Jurrens is currently ranked as the class of 2023 No. 1 recruit in the state of Nebraska and No. 23 player in the Plains states by Tennis Recruiting Network. In addition to her accomplishments at the high school level in Nebraska, Jurrens also ranks 192nd in the Missouri Valley region by the USTA.
