Bluejay Men's Soccer Opens BIG EAST Play at Home Against No. 13 Marquette

Omaha, Neb. -- The Bluejays open BIG EAST play on Friday against Midwest rival Marquette at 7:30 p.m. Creighton and Marquette have a deadlocked series at 9-9-2.
Series History: Tied, 9-9-2
This is the 21st meeting between the Bluejays and Golden Eagles. The matchup is as deadlocked as possible with each team claiming nine contests and two ending in a draw. In Omaha the two teams are 5-5-1, but the Golden Eagles have won the last two trips to Morrison Stadium.

Lukas Sunesson, who recorded a team-high seven goals last season, is absent from the roster, however fifth-year senior Brooklyn Merl has stepped up, scoring five goals in six games for Marquette. Edrey Caceres, who seconded Sunesson with four goals last season, returns to the pitch, contributing three goals in 2023.
Scouting Creighton (1-3-2)
After beginning the 2023 season with two losses to No. 7 Stanford 3-1 and Grand Canyon 2-1, and two draws to UC Irvine 0-0 and Denver 2-2, the Bluejays saw their first win of the season come against Michigan 3-1. The win came at the annual Socctoberfest celebration at Morrison Stadium.
Following their strong performance against Michigan, the Bluejays faced Kansas City, an opponent they had played 17 times, winning 13 times throughout the matchup's history. Â
The Bluejays struck first in the second half, as freshman Miguel Arilla delivered a pass to Andrija Savis to get the go-ahead goal 1-0 in the 49th minute. Â
