Money raised will benefit Hope Lodge Nebraska
OMAHA, Neb. -- The No. 6 Creighton Volleyball team will host its 17th Annual Pink Out match on Sunday, October 20th and use the competition as an opportunity to benefit the American Cancer Society's Hope Lodge Nebraska.
Similar to how the Creighton Basketball programs have hosted a Pink Out jersey auction to raise more than $640,000 over the past 14 years, the Creighton Volleyball program will join in the fun in 2024. The Bluejay Volleyball team will wear white warm-up shirts with a pink lettering accent. The team is expected to wear its new white Nike jerseys that debuted earlier this season (with pink passing sleeves), but will be auctioning off its white and pink game-worn jerseys from last year's Pink Out match beginning at 6:30 p.m. on October 3rd and running until 6:30 p.m. Central on October 13th.
The winning bidders will have the opportunity to honor a friend or family member who has battled cancer or is currently battling cancer by purchasing the apparel via auction at http://gocreighton.com/pinkoutauction. The warm-up shirt to be worn can be personalized by the winning bidder.
Shortly after the match, the family members of the winning bidders will have the opportunity to meet the student-athletes of the jersey they bid on.

The American Cancer Society Hope Lodge Nebraska provides a free home away from home for cancer patients and their caregivers who must travel to receive their lifesaving treatment. Â More than just a roof over their heads, it's a nurturing community that helps patients access the care they need. Since opening its doors in January 2018, Hope Lodge Nebraska has served over 2,600 patients and caregivers from 27 different states, provided nearly 18,000 nights of lodging and has saved those families nearly $3 million dollars. Â A cancer diagnosis marks the beginning of a journey through physical, emotional, and practical challenges. Treatment close to home is always the first choice, but it is not always possible. When travel for treatment becomes necessary, many wonder if can be physically and emotionally endured or financially feasible. Â For some, it can become a barrier to survival. Â
With over 30 facilities in operation, each Hope Lodge offers cancer patients and their caregivers a free place to stay when their best hope for effective treatment may be in another city. Not having to worry about where to stay or how to pay for lodging allows guests to focus on getting better. Every Hope Lodge also offers a variety of resources and information about cancer and how best to fight the disease.
