Men’s Tennis Wraps Up Play at Kearney Invite with Seven Win on Sunday

KEARNEY, Neb. – The Creighton men's tennis team wrapped up play with seven addition victories at the Kearney Invite on Sunday afternoon at the Ernest Grundy Tennis Center in Kearney, Neb.
Juniors Kirtan Patel and Yuma Daijima teamed up for a 6-4 win over North Dakota's Andrew Hayduke II and Ethan Terry, while the duo of Max Stollecker and Ethan Neil combined for a 6-2 win over UND's Jayho Hong and Christos Alex.
The Bluejays carried over their success from doubles play and collected wins in five of their six singles matches to finish the weekend with a total of 16 singles wins.
Daijima opened things up with a 7-5, 6-1 straight sets win over the Fighting Hawks Leandro Zgraggen, before junior Zachary Kuo claimed a 7-5, 6-3 triumph over UND's Ethan Terry.
Freshman Rocky McKenzie followed with a 7-5, 6-4 win of his own over Hong, while Blake Eason battled UND's Federico Fiorda to a 6-3, 7-6 (5) straight sets win for his first win of the season. Neil then claimed a 6-3, 0-6, 10-8 three-set win over Andrew Hayduke II to finish off the event for the Bluejays.
Creighton returns to the courts on Wednesday, Oct. 16 when the Bluejays travel to Oklahoma for the ITA Central Regional hosted by Tulsa.
