Castro Claims All-BIG EAST First Team, O'Neill, Arilla and Torres Also Honored

Omaha, Neb. --Â Four Bluejays were rewarded for their strong play throughout the 2024 season by BIG EAST coaches on Tuesday, November 12. Senior Jackson Castro earned All-BIG EAST First Team, senior Mark O'Neill claimed All-BIG EAST Second Team. Sophomore Miguel Arilla and junior Roman Torres each earned a spot on the All-BIG EAST Third Team.
Earning All-BIG EAST First Team honors for the second consecutive season, Castro closed the season with a team-high in goals (9), assists (7) and points (25). Jackson saw action in all 18 matches, starting 17 and playing 1,341 minutes. He closed the season with at least one point in nine matches, highlighted by a six-point effort (two goals and two assists) in Creighton's 6-1 win over Butler on October 26 during the Bluejays' senior day. Jacked was a four times BIG EAST Honor Roll recipient.
O'Neill also earned his second consecutive BIG EAST accolade, earning All-BIG EAST Second Team honors this season after claiming All-BIG EAST Third Team recognition last season. O'Neill appeared and started 17 contest, logging 1,498 minutes. The Bluejays' defensive leader, Mark contributed three goals and two assists on the offensive side for eight points. Scoring primarily on corner kicks, two of O'Neill's goals proved to be the difference as he delivered the game-winner against San Franciso in a 4-2 win on September 1 and again versus Villanova in a 3-1 victory on October 19.
Arilla and Torres earned their first postseason honors, claiming All-BIG EAST Third Team honors. Arilla closed the 2024 campaign second on the team with 15 points, finishing tied with Castro for the team lead with seven assists and scoring four goals. Miguel delivered a pair of tallies in Creighton's regular season finale to help the Bluejays dispatch Marquette 5-2 on November 2. Arilla appeared in 15 matches, earning 10 starts and playing 813 minutes. Torres started 17 matches for the Bluejays, playing 1,442 minutes. He delivered three goals and two assists, including the game-winner in Creighton's 3-0 win over Tulsa on September 14.
