
Volleyball Signs Two Prep Standouts

Abbey Hayes and Ashlyn Paymal will join the program in January
OMAHA, Neb. – The Creighton Volleyball program signed a pair of prep standouts on Wednesday, as pin hitters Abbey Hayes and Ashlyn Paymal will continue their academic and athletic careers on The Hilltop.
Both women plan to enroll at Creighton in January and will have four years of eligibility.
Abbey Hayes, 6'3", Outside Hitter, Eldridge, Iowa (North Scott HS)
• Regarded as the No. 2 senior prospect in the state of Iowa per Prep Dig and VBAdrenaline.com.
• Tabbed the nation's No. 82 recruit by Prep Dig, and the 136th-best player nationally per Prep Volleyball.
• A member of the VBAdrenaline.com All-American Team in 2024.
• Named Class 4A Player of the Year and to the Elite All-State Team by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association as a junior after helping the Lady Lancers to their first state title since 1985.
• Owned 17 kills in 2023 state title match sweep over Indianola.
• Collected 412 kills, 167 digs and 53 aces on .339 hitting as a senior, helping team to a 30-5 record and a trip to the state semifinals.
• Earned Class 4A First Team All-State honors from the Des Moines Register and IGCA as a sophomore after recording 360 kills and 188 digs.
• Plays club volleyball for Six Pack.
• Verbally committed to Creighton in July, 2023.

We think Abbey has potential to be another high level, six-rotation player here at Creighton. In addition, she is a fantastic teammate, a great student, and will add to our culture."
Ashlyn Paymal, 6'2", Right-Side Hitter, Omaha, Neb. (Westside HS)
• Listed as the state's No. 5 prospect by Prep Dig.
• Recorded 443 kills, 169 digs, 48 aces and 46 blocks on .294 hitting as a senior.
• Helped Westside back to the state tournament last week.
• Named to Omaha World-Herald's 2024 Volleyball Super Six in the preseason.
• As a junior, had 349 kills, 101 digs, 77 blocks, 31 aces and hit .288, helping Westside go 26-11 and to the state semifinals, as she was the only junior on the Omaha World-Herald's All-State Team.
• Spent her first two seasons at Omaha Burke, and had 259 kills, 47 blocks and 34 aces while hitting .284 as a sophomore.
• Plays club volleyball for Nebraska Elite, where she was once coached by former Bluejay Grace Nelson.
• Committed to Creighton in June of 2023.
