#6 Volleyball Tames Wildcats For 14th Straight Win

Bluejays hit .400 and trail just once
OMAHA, Neb. -- Norah Sis surpassed 1,500 career kills in the first set and served a 14-0 run in the second set to lead No. 6 Creighton Volleyball to a 14th straight victory, a 3-0 sweep over Villanova on Sunday afternoon inside D.J. Sokol Arena.
Scores of Creighton's 25th straight home win were 25-10, 25-12, 25-18, as Villanova's only lead of the afternoon came when it took a short-lived 1-0 advantage in the final set.
Ava Martin had 13 kills and hit .478 for Creighton (21-2, 12-0 BIG EAST) while Sis added 11 kills, six digs, three aces and tied her season-best with four blocks. Kendra Wait contributed her 67th career double-double with 33 assists and 10 digs, Maddy Bilinovic led all players with 11 digs while BG EAST blocks leader Kiara Reinhardt owned a match-leading six rejections.
Creighton blitzed to a 6-1 lead in the opening set to force an early timeout from the visitors. The Wildcats earned a sideout, only to see Bilinovic unleash a 7-0 service run to extend the Bluejay lead to 13-2. CU led 17-4 and later as large as 24-9 before a kill from Destiny Ndam-Simpson closed out the opening set at 25-10. Creighton hit .609 in the lid-lifter, with Sis contributing five kills and three blocks. Creighton also finished the set with a perfect 100 percent sideout percentage on Nova's 11 serves.
Creighton owned a narrow 9-8 lead in the second set before Sis unleashed CU's longest serving spree of the season, a 14-0 run. The stretch included three aces by Sis and Reinhardt contributing three blocks and a pair of unassisted kills. Elise Goetzinger stuffed Campbell McKinnon on set point of CU's 25-12 win, part of a Bluejay defense that had four blocks and held Nova to -.032 hitting in 31 swings.
After surrendering the first point of the third set, CU scored four in a row and maintained a lead the rest of the way. Bilinovic served a 4-0 run that gave CU a 17-11 edge and a kill by Martin finished off CU's ninth straight sweep. Martin owned eight kills in the third set as Wait dished 15 assists on 19 Bluejay kills.
Creighton finished the match with 45 kills, six aces, 40 digs and nine blocks on .400 hitting while committing just one service error.
Villanova (13-10, 6-6 BIG EAST) was led by nine kills by Abby Harrell. The Wildcats hit .102 and finished with 26 kills, 20 digs, three blocks and no aces.
Creighton returns to action on Friday at 6 p.m. when it hosts Butler.
