Men's Soccer Falls to #24 Georgetown 1-0 in BIG EAST Tournament

Washington, D.C. -- The 2024 season for Creighton men's soccer came to a close as the Bluejays fell to #24 Georgetown in the opening round of the BIG EAST Tournament on Saturday, November 9.
Georgetown advanced to face either Akron in the semifinals.
The Bluejays created a pair of scoring opportunities in the first 10 minutes of the match with a shot from freshman Amos Boum Nlend sailing wide, while a free kick by Jackson Castro was just ahead of two teammates crashing the box.
Georgetown capitalized with the lone goal of the contest came in the final second of the first half as Georgetown's Mateo Ocampo scored with 44:59 on the clock, finishing a set of passes from Matthew Van Horn and Jack Heaps.
In the final minute Creighton's offense sent a pair of dangerous balls into the Hoyas' box, but Georgetown goalkeeper Tezing Manske denied the Bluejays. Manske notched three saves in the match, while Creighton's Blak Gilllingham delivered four saves.
Georgetown held an 11-10 shot advantage, while the Bluejays created six corners to four by Georgetown.
The Bluejays moved to 9-6-3 following Saturday's contest, while the Hoyas moved to 9-4-5.
