Bluejay Men's Soccer Drops First BIG EAST Contest, Falling 3-0 at UConn

Storrs, Conn. -- Seeing the five-match win streak come to an end, Creighton Men's Soccer dropped its first BIG EAST match of the season as the Bluejays fell 3-0 at Connecticut on Friday, October 3.
The loss moved the Bluejays to 5-3-2 on the season and 2-1-0 in BIG EAST action, while Connecticut climbed to 7-2-3 overall and 2-1-0 in conference contests.
A hard fought opening half saw the two squads fight to a 0-0 score. Connecticut held a 10-6 edge in the first half. The Huskies were the team to find the back of the net, doing so in the 53rd minute as Ayoub Lajhar send the ball into the bottom left slot to break Creighton goalkeeper Matthew Hudson's streak of over 350 minutes (352:45).
Connecticut tacked on goals in the 56th and 87th minutes to seize the contest.
Despite the three goal difference the stats throughout the match remained very close with Connecticut held a 22-20 edge over Creighton on shots, while the Bluejays earned 12 corners to nine for the Huskies.
The Bluejays return to the pitch on Wednesday, October 8 in a neutral site battle with Missouri State in Kansas City, Missouri. The match is slated to begin at 6:00Â pm.
