Omaha, Neb. -- Creighton Men's Soccer Head Coach Johnny Torres announced the addition of Angel Lopez and Peter Westling. The duo as well as Mario Albert, Caden Johnson and Carter Tavares will compete for the Bluejays this spring. Albert, Johnson and Tavares were part of the fall announcement.
Another top transfer from Junior College powerhouse Iowa Wester, Lopez, arrives with a championship pedigree, having played a key role in IWCC's 2024 National Championship as he contributed 25 goals and 16 assists during his Reivers career.
"An energetic individual on the attack, Angel brings a blend of speed, strength, and intelligence, that will assist on the attack," said Torres. "His growth at the junior college level—both as a player and a leader—has prepared him to make a meaningful impact as he steps onto the pitch at Creighton."
A Nebraska native, Westling comes to Creighton from Elkhorn. He attended Shattuck's St Mary's in Minnesota, which competes in the MLS Next National League. Peter played club soccer for Sporting Nebraska, where he was his squad's player of the year and played in an SKC All-Star event. He also lived in Barcelona, Spain for six weeks to play soccer and train under Johan Cruyff's son-in-law.Â
"Peter is a a strong, athletic, and technical individual with a good engine who will strengthen the backline," said Torres.
