OMAHA, Neb. -- Abbey Hayes and Eloise Brandewie combined for 19 kills in 43 swings to lead Creighton Volleyball to its first home sweep of the season, a 25-17, 25-18, 25-20 victory over Butler on Friday night at D.J. Sokol Arena. The Bluejays have now won 22 straight sets over Butler.

Playing its first match since having its league-record 50-match BIG EAST win streak snapped last Sunday, Creighton (9-8, 4-1 BIG EAST) hit .284 to move back into a tie for first place in the conference standings. Butler (9-9, 3-3 BIG EAST) lost its second match in three days after opening league play 3-1.

Hayes had 11 kills and hit a season-best .491 in 23 swings, while Brandewie hit .400 with eight kills while also tying for match-best honors with four blocks. Ayden Ames hit .280 with eight kills for a Bluejay offense that minimized its errors and hit .263 or better in all three sets. Saige Damrow led the defense with 16 digs and Nora Wurtz served three of CU's seven aces.

Butler was led by Chase Lemming, who owned a match-high 12 kills, and 13 digs from libero Jersey Loyer. The Bulldogs hit just .108 and outdug Creighton 53-46, but the Bluejays dominated in kills (41-30), aces (7-3) and blocks (7-1).

Damrow served back-to-back aces as part of a 5-0 serving run as Creighton took an 8-4 run in the first set. Brandewie had four kills in the opener and teamed with Katie Dalton for a stuff on set point, one of four Bluejay blocks in the opener.

Creighton trailed 8-7 in the second set before Wurtz unleashed a 7-0 run that featured a pair of aces to build a 14-8 lead. The Jays never looked back and closed out the set on Hayes' sixth kill of the set.

Butler's 14-13 lead in the third set evaporated as Sydney Breissinger went on a 4-0 serving run to give the Jays the lead for good. BU's Elise Ward hit an attack into the net on match point as the Bluejays finished off the Bulldogs in 89 minutes. Damrow had 10 digs in the third set alone to help limit Butler to .027 hitting.

Creighton takes on BIG EAST co-leader Xavier (11-5, 4-1 BIG EAST) on Sunday at 1 p.m. It will be the first meeting between the schools since Creighton swept the Musketeers in the finals of the 2025 BIG EAST Tournament.
