Zediker Earns First BIG EAST Freshman of the Week Honor

Omaha, Neb. -- Creighton Women's Basketball freshman Ava Zediker earned her first BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honor on Monday, February 9 after leading the Bluejays to a pair of victories over Georgetown (64-62) on February 4 and Marquette (80-74 in overtime) on February 8.
Zediker was a driving force for Creighton as she averaged 18.0 ppg, 5.0 rpg and 5.0 apg to lift the Bluejays to victories over Georgetown and Marquette. Ava took over in the second half against the Golden Eagles with 15 of her 25 points to help force overtime. In the extra session she dished out three assists to secure the win. Versus Georgetown she delivered all 11 of her points in the third quarter to help Creighton fight off a Hoyas charge. She closed the two games shooting 12-of-24 (50.0%) from the field and went 5-for-6 (83.3%) from beyond the arc.
Graduate transfer Grace Boffeli collected a spot on the BIG EAST Honor Roll as she averaged 16.0 ppg and 15.5 rpg. In the win over the Hoyas on Wednesday Grace grabbed 17 rebounds and delivered the game-winner in the closing seconds. Boffeli faked a handoff near the three-point line, spun left and drove the lane for the winning layup. In Sunday's win over Marquette she posted her seventh double-double of the season with 23 points and 14 rebounds. She accounted for nine of the Bluejays' 13 in overtime and delivered 15 points and nine rebounds during the fourth quarter and extra session. Grace closed the two games shooting 13-of-22 (59.1%).
Boffeli, Zediker and the rest of the Bluejays face #1 Connecticut in a road contest on Wednesday, February 11 at 6:00 pm on Peacock.
