Reed, Tavares and Thompson Earn BIG EAST Weekly Honors

With at least one goal in four consecutive matches, Reed seized the team lead with five. Reed delivered four goals this week, including game-winners at Tulsa and against Gonzaga. He tallied a pair of goals at Tulsa, then notched on goal in both wins this weekend in the Jesuit Invitational over Gonzaga and Santa Clara.

Tavares is tied for the team lead with 11 points, holding a team-best five assists on the season. This week the Bluejay midfielder had one goal and three assists in Creighton's three victories. Carter scored a goal and two assists in the Bluejays' 5-0 win at Tulsa on Monday, Aug. 31, then added an assist in the Bluejays' 4-1 win over Santa Clara on Monday, September 7. Tavares has started five of six matches this season, including all three this week. He logged a combined 142 minutes in Creighton's three wins.

Playing in just his second and third matches at the D1 level, Thompson posted consecutive shutouts to help Creighton win at Tulsa on Monday, Aug. 31, then best Gonzaga on Friday. The Brooklyn native notched six combined saves, facing 15 shots at Tulsa and eight versus Gonzaga.

The Bluejays' season continues with a pair of home matches this week as Creighton faces Saint Mary's College on Thursday, September 10 and Yale on Sunday, September 13. The rest of the BIG EAST Weekly Award are below.
BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Alvaro Maneiro, Providence, Jr., M (Madrid, Spain)
Maneiro totaled three goals and six points as Providence went 2-0-1 across three matches. He highlighted the week with a two-goal performance in the Friars' 3-1 road victory at Harvard and finished the week second among BIG EAST players in both goals and points.
BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week
Alex Yagudayev, Villanova, Jr., GK (Brooklyn, N.Y.)
Yagudayev registered a league-high 19 saves while allowing just one goal over 180 minutes. He made 13 saves in Villanova's 1-0 shutout victory over Fordham before adding six saves against FDU. The junior finished the week with a .950 save percentage and a 0.50 goals-against average.
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Luca Iaccino, DePaul, Jr., F (Rolling Meadows, Ill.)
Iaccino scored twice in DePaul's 3-0 victory over Chicago State, netting his two goals within two minutes of each other to give the Blue Demons insurance. The brace pushed his season total to three goals.
Mitchell Baker, Georgetown, Jr., F (Melbourne, Australia)
Baker totaled two goals and an assist against a pair of nationally ranked opponents. He scored twice in Georgetown's 3-0 victory over then-No. 10/6 Oregon State before adding an assist in a 3-2 setback at No. 2/2 Maryland.
Devin Armstrong, Seton Hall, Gr., GK (Palm Harbor, Fla.)
Armstrong made six saves and posted a clean sheet in Seton Hall's 1-0 road victory over Rutgers. He made a pair of key saves in the final 10 minutes to preserve the win and earn his second consecutive shutout.
Ekene Okeke, Xavier, Sr., D (Houston, Texas)
Okeke scored twice, including the game-winning goal, in Xavier's 3-2 road victory at Northwestern. He then played all 90 minutes as the Musketeers shut out Bowling Green, 2-0, to complete a 2-0 week.
