A 14-year coaching veteran, Sayavongchanh joined the Bluejays prior to the 2015-16 season.
The epitome of versatility, Sayavongchanh worked with guards and combo players during her first four seasons, before transitioning to work specifically
with hybrids (posts) over the last two. Creighton’s recruiting coordinator has helped guide the Bluejays to a record of 104-78, including two NCAA Tournament appearances.
Sayavongchanh helped Creighton reach consecutive NCAA Tournaments in 2017 and 2018, advancing to the Second Round of the Dance in both seasons. In addition, Sayavongchanh was instrumental in helping
Creighton claim the BIG EAST title in 2017 with a 16-2 mark in
conference play.
Before coming to Creighton, Sayavongchanh spent two years on the sidelines for Saint Louis (2013-15) and also spent time on the bench with North Dakota (2012-13) as well as Drake (2009-12). She began her career as a graduate assistant at Minnesota-Duluth (2007-09).
A standout athlete, Sayavongchanh starred at Drake from 2002-06.
A three-time All-Missouri Valley Conference selection, Sayavongchanh finished her career with 1,129 points and was named to the MVC All-Defensive team three times. She closed her career second in steals for the Bulldogs with 266, including 105 in 2003-04.
A star at Lincoln High School in Des Moines, Iowa, Sayavongchanh is a member of the school’s Hall of Fame as well as the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union Hall of Fame.
Sayavongchanh holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Drake (2007) and earned a master’s degree in education at
Minnesota-Duluth in 2009. She and longtime boyfriend Joe Konrad
(pictured below) reside in Omaha with their dog, Kobe.
