Ben McNair began his 18th year with Creighton University at the onset of 2024-25 and his 14th as Director of Athletic Medicine. Ben is the athletic trainer for the men’s basketball team and oversees a staff of seven athletic trainers.
He returned to Creighton after serving as a graduate assistant athletic trainer from 1999-2001. During that time his primary sport coverage was with the men’s soccer and baseball teams.
McNair spent six years in St Louis at Missouri Baptist University, one year as an assistant athletic trainer and five years as head athletic trainer. In his time there he gained valuable experience by working with numerous men’s and women’s athletic teams. He was inducted into the Missouri Baptist University Hall of Fame in 2015 for meritorious service.
McNair graduated in 1997 from Nebraska Wesleyan University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science and Wellness with an emphasis in athletic training. Ben continued his education by obtaining a Master of Arts Exercise Science degree from the University of Nebraska – Omaha while working as the graduate assistant athletic trainer at Creighton University. During his undergraduate and graduate years, McNair worked numerous summer sport and Fellowship of Christian Athlete camps. He also has helped to coordinate and provide medical coverage for many years at the College World Series.
McNair is originally from Imperial, Nebraska. He is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, Midwest Athletic Trainers’ Association and the Nebraska Athletic Trainers’ Association. He is a preceptor for the University of Nebraska at Omaha Athletic Training Education Program as well as certified as a professional rescuer with the American Red Cross.
He lives in Omaha with his wife Natalie and their four children, Hannah, Isaac, Joshua and Kyra.
