Lisa Chipps serves as the Sr. Associate Athletic Director for Academic Services/SWA for Creighton Athletics after being promoted to that role on October 2, 2025.
A former Bluejay cross country and rowing student-athlete, Chipps has served Creighton in an academic support role since October 2001, was named Director of Student-Athlete Academic Services in August 2016 and assumed SWA responsibilities in April 2020. During her tenure, Creighton student-athletes have achieved historic levels of success in the classroom, achieving a 97% Graduation Success Rate and a combined 3.51 GPA in Spring 2025, with more than 87 percent of student athletes earning a 3.0 GPA or higher. Chipps also serves as the sport administrator for women's volleyball and women's basketball.
The spring of 2020 saw Chipps be honored with the Leaders for Life Award, a recognition bestowed because she empowers student-athletes to shine and succeed. She is a driving force behind the excellent academic experience all students-athletes receive—including nearly 175 females—and Creighton's enviable graduation rate of 96 percent, which ranks in the top 10 percent of all Division I institutions.
Chipps came to Creighton in 2002 after working for the state of Nebraska as a Vocational Rehabilitation Employment Specialist. While doing so she managed a caseload consisting of 40-60 clients, where she provided job placement assistance to clients via job leads, consultation and direct placement.
Chipps is no stranger to the Bluejay Athletic Department, having worked as a department secretary for eight months in 1999 and spending four months as part of the Student Athlete Support Center in 1998. She also worked in the Creighton Counseling Center as a Practicum Student in 2000 and a Graduate Assistant for three months. She was also a student-athlete at CU, running cross country one year and as a member of the rowing team for three seasons.
Chipps earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Creighton in 1997. She then earned her Master of Science degree in Counseling and College Student Personnel Services in May of 2000. In the process, she earned the Superior Scholastic Achievement Award while graduating with a 4.0 GPA. She earned her Doctorate degree from Creighton in the spring of 2019.
Chipps remains active in the community as a guest reader and playground attendant at Fontenelle Elementary School in Omaha.
Her husband, Dan, is the long-time head coach of CU’s rowing team. The couple has two children, Matthew, born in April, 2002 and Allison, born in August of 2007.
