Matt Hutchinson joined Creighton University as Assistant Athletic Director of Development in October 2025.
He comes to Creighton from Washburn University, where he spent seven years as Associate Athletic Director and Assistant Athletic Director for External Relations. During his tenure, Hutchinson led or supported major renovations and facility additions, including Lee Arena, Steve Anson Stadium, the Golf Training Center, the Herron and Sneed Family Locker Rooms, and the Bianchino Pavilion Suites. Washburn Athletics consistently ranked among the nation’s top 25 programs in the Learfield Directors’ Cup.
Hutchinson completed the 2024–25 NCAA Pathway Program and the 2023 NACDA U Senior Administrators Institute. He was recognized as a NextGen Under 30 award winner in the state of Kansas, served as the 20/30 Club of Topeka Gala Chair, and earned three NACMA “Best of” awards during his time at Washburn.
In addition to his institutional roles, Hutchinson has spent the past decade consulting with the MIAA Conference and the NAIA National Office. His “Teaming Up for Character” initiative surrounding the NAIA Men’s Basketball Championships was named National Program of the Year in 2017–18.
A three-time graduate of Rockhurst University, Hutchinson was a men’s basketball student-athlete for the Hawks from 2012–15 and earned his doctorate in higher education in May 2025.
