Erik Crawford joins Creighton’s staff as director of basketball operations after spending the previous four years with McDermott at Iowa State.
Crawford spent the previous two seasons as assistant director of operations at ISU, where he assisted the basketball staff in day-to-day basketball operations, including on-campus recruiting, academic mentoring, team travel and scheduling. He also handled the majority of the program’s graphic design work.
Crawford began his coaching career in Ames after starting his final three seasons on the University of Northern Iowa basketball team, where he was an important part of the unprecedented success McDermott achieved with the Panthers.
A native of Oakdale, Minn., Crawford participated in three NCAA Tournaments, amassing 985 points in his three-year Panther career. He was named to the Missouri Valley All-Newcomer team in 2004 and was an honorable mention MVC selection as a junior in 2005. Crawford prepped at Tartan High in Oakdale, Minn., helping the Titans win the 2000 Minnesota Class-4A state championship.
Crawford earned a degree in leisure youth and human services from UNI in May of 2006 and is currently pursuing his master’s degree in kinesiology.
He and his wife, Nicole, have a daughter Mya Marie (3), and son, Treyvin Randall, who was born in March.
