OMAHA, Neb. - Head volleyball coach Howard Wallace has announced the signing of Liz Kirchhoff to a national letter of intent to attend Creighton University and play volleyball for the Bluejays beginning in 2000.
Kirchhoff, a 6-1 middle hitter from Avoca, Neb., was a four-time all-conference and three-time all-state performer who helped Syracuse High School to improved records in three-straight years (16-7, 22-3, 26-2). As a senior, Kirchhoff led her prep team to the Capitol Conference championship, a district title and runner up showing at the Nebraska State Tournament. The four-year starter was selected to play in the annual All-Star Volleyball game after collecting 265 kills and 72 ace blocks her senior year. Kirchhoff also competes for the Nebraska Juniors club team.
"We are excited to have Liz join our program," said Wallace. "She definitely has the opportunity to contribute a lot to the team. With hard work over the summer, she could prove to be one of our strongest players."
Kirchhoff joins Jaden Custer as the 2000 Creighton volleyball signees. They join a Bluejay squad that finished the 1999 campaign with a 13-15 overall mark and was 9-9 (5th place) in the Missouri Valley Conference. Just two seniors graduate from this young squad, which was led by first-team All-MVC performer Melissa Walsh.
