Creighton's Tim Gradoville Drafted In 37th Round By Philadelphia

OMAHA, Neb. -- Catcher Tim Gradoville became the latest in a long line of Creighton University baseball standouts to be drafted, going in the 37th round today to the Philadelphia Phillies. Gradoville was the 1,109th overall pick and is the 16th CU draftee since Jack Dahm was named head coach. This year's draft lasted 50 rounds and 1,482 players were selected overall.

Gradoville has the option to return to CU for his senior season or sign with the Phillies organization before attending classes in the fall. Gradoville graduated in four years from Creighton on May 18 but has one year of eligibility remaining since he redshirted during the 1999 campaign.
"It's an honor for Tim to get drafted," said Dahm. "He's only been catching for about four years. We've felt like he's one of the top catchers in the Midwest and among the top defensive catchers in the country. Hopefully it's the right situation where Tim can go out and get into pro ball. He's very deserving of that and he's been one of the hardest workers we've had in the program the last four years."
