Free NCAA YES Baseball Clinics to be Conducted at Creighton
6/9/2005 7:00:00 AM | Baseball
Boys and girls, ages 10 to 18, are eligible to participate at no cost to them. Registration is on a first come, first serve basis. Participants will be able to participate in skill instruction, conditioning and life skills sessions with collegiate coaches and student-athletes. We are pleased to have The Coca-Cola Company and the POWERade brand's support of the YES Clinics. This partnership will provide additional benefits to participants, parents and/or guardians.
The specific skill sessions will be more instructional in format, and teach the "FUN" in fundamentals of sports and life. Participation in this clinic will allow youth to experience the excitement of the 2005 NCAA Men's College World Series first-hand.
Boys and girls will have the unique opportunity to receive baseball instruction from some to the nation's top NCAA collegiate coaches. The following coaches have been selected to serve as clinicians for this year's clinics: Dick Cooke, Davidson College; Wilbur Ellis, former coach at Grambling State University; Steve Farley, Butler University; Mike Florak, Youngstown State University; Richard Jones, University of Illinois; John Manganaro, Wayne State College; Ritch Price, University of Kansas; Joe Sottolano, United States Military Academy; Paul Stevens, Northwestern University; Greg Van Zant, West Virginia University; and John Vodenlich, University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Each participant will receive a souvenir YES T-shirt, printed materials on baseball skill development, nutrition and academic topics, gift items from sponsors and a voucher to redeem for a ticket to attend the 2005 NCAA Men's College World Series at Omaha's Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium.
Parents and/or guardians are also encouraged to attend a session specifically designed for them. In this session, attendees will have the opportunity to discuss issues relating to youth sports, nutrition, sportsmanship, recruiting and injury prevention with experts from the community.
