Men's Cross Country Finishes 13th at NCAA Regional, Women Finish 24th

PEORIA, Ill. -- The Creighton men's cross country team finished 13th at the NCAA Midwest Regional in Peoria, Ill. on Saturday, while the women finished 24th. There were 24 teams in the men's race and 25 teams in the women's race. This was the first time since 2004 that the Jays sent their full teams to the regional.
The men were led by senior John Krumsee. He finished 54th in the last race of his career with a 10K time of 31:49. The time is Krumsee's best in a 10K race. Trent Hoerr from Illinois was the overall champion with a time of 29:56.
The next Bluejay finisher was senior Peter Cole. He finished 63rd with a time of 32:02. Freshmen Michael Pandolfo and Andrew Dryden placed 73rd and 94th respectively. Their times were 32:16 and 32:53. Senior Brian Werner was the last runner to contribute to Creighton's team score. He ran the course in 33:14 which was good for 107th place. There were 155 runners in the men's race.
The Bluejay women were led for the 13th consecutive race by senior Megan Foste. She ran the 6K race in a time of 22:07 and finished in 82nd place. It was the fastest 6K time of Foste's career. The women's champion was Diane Nukuri who finished in 19:37.
The second Creighton finisher was sophomore Celeste Lorenzo who finished 148th with a time of 23:38. Lorenzo was closely followed by senior Liz Murray who placed 150th and ran the course in 23:41. Seniors Kari Tanimoto and Stephanie Righeimer finished back-to-back in 152nd and 153rd place with times of 23:44 and 23:46 to round out the runners that contributed to Creighton's score.
