OMAHA, Neb. -- More than a year in advance, all-session tickets are sold out for the 2008 NCAA Men's Basketball Championship First/Second Rounds to be held at Qwest Center Omaha March 20 & 22, according to Tournament Manager and Creighton Assistant Director of Athletics Kevin Sarver.
The event, to be co-hosted by Creighton University and the Missouri Valley Conference, will feature eight teams and six games in two days of competition. Four first-round games will be played on Thursday, March 20 with the winners advancing to the second-round for games on Saturday, March 22. The second-round winners on Saturday, March 22 will advance to Charlotte, N.C., Phoenix, Ariz., Detroit, Mich., or Houston, Texas for NCAA Regional play the following week.
Sarver said nearly 13,000 all-session tickets for the event were sold between Jan. 15 and March 9.
"The NCAA allows host institutions of 2008 first- and second-round games the opportunity to sell all-session tickets to their constituents before they are made available to the general public," Sarver said. "Creighton men's basketball season ticket holders, as well as Qwest Center Omaha club seat holders and suite owners, are obviously excited about the event and embraced the opportunity."
Sarver said a waitlist will be maintained in the event any tickets are returned by the participating institutions and/or other NCAA-designated seating blocks. To be put on the waitlist, Sarver said fans must e-mail their name, address, phone numbers and the number of tickets they are interested in (maximum of eight tickets allowed) to ncaa2008@qwestcenter.com starting Monday, March 19.
