Women's Tennis Streaking, Tames Panthers With 6-1 Win

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - Creighton completed a weekend sweep in Wisconsin, as the Jays cruised to its third straight win, a 6-1 triumph over Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Sunday morning at the Paley Tennis Center.
The win evened the Jays at .500, as they are now 4-4 on the season. UW-Milwaukee fell to 2-6.
Creighton started the doubles in a must-win situation after Kelly Drvaric and Kelly Kastenholz topped Sarah and Leesa Cadwallader, 8-4 at No. 1. The Bluejays came through, as Kelsey Schmidt and Anna Kirshenbaum beat Sammi Schoen and Brittany Skemp, 8-3 at No. 2, and Tess Reddin and Lauren Mastro cruised by Ashley Schoneman and Kelly Fritz 8-1 at No. 3 for the doubles point.
Creighton matched last night's effort, winning its first three contests in singles. Mary Pat McMullan won her third straight match at No. 6 with a 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 win over Jenna Felsher. Lindsey Erickson posted a 6-3, 6-2 win over Brittany Skemp at No. 5 and Schmidt followed with a 5-7, 6-2, 6-1 win over Kastenholz.
UW-Milwaukee picked up its lone win at No. 3, when Schoen topped Mastro, 6-3, 6-2, But Kirshenbaum won her match at No. 2 over Schoneman, 7-5, 6-0 and Reddin posted a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Drvaric at No. 1 to wrap up the 6-1 victory.
The Jays will try to make it four straight wins when they host South Dakota State on Friday at the Hanscom Tennis Center. Doubles action will begin at 7:00 p.m.
