
Men's Basketball Closes 2009-10 Season Ranked 15th Nationally in Attendance

OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton men's basketball team finished the 2009-10 season ranked 15th nationally in average home attendance, according to final numbers published today by the NCAA. This marks the fourth straight season the Bluejays have ranked among the nation's top-15, and fifth consecutive year in the top-20.
Creighton hosted 246,419 fans in 17 home games during the recently-completed 2009-10 campaign, good for an average of 14,495 fans per game. Prior to hosting its two CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament games at the smaller Omaha Civic Auditorium, Creighton was averaging 15,883 fans, a figure that would have placed the school a best-ever 10th nationally.
This was the seventh straight season that Creighton has led the Missouri Valley Conference in men's basketball attendance, which coincides with the program's move into Qwest Center Omaha for the 2003-04 campaign. Creighton has attracted 1,647,557 fans during 115 all-time games at Qwest Center Omaha, an average of 14,327 patrons per contest in that time.
Creighton outdrew three of the teams to make the Final Four for the second straight season, trailing only Michigan State this past season.
Kentucky led the country in attendance for the fifth straight season with 24,111 fans per game, while the Big Ten led all leagues with an average of 12,591 fans per game league-wide. The Missouri Valley Conference ranked eighth-highest nationally with an average of 7,397 fans per game, including six teams in the top-100.
