OMAHA, Neb. - Saturday's scheduled NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament Quarterfinal between the No. 2-seeded Creighton Bluejays and No. 7-seeded South Florida Bulls at Morrison Stadium has been postponed until Sunday 1 pm (NOTE NEW TIME) due to snow in Omaha. Moments before a delayed kickoff at 1:15 pm, the on-site NCAA games committee determined the field at Morrison Stadium was unplayable due to the continual snow fall, which facility crews could not keep clear despite a continual effort for more than two hours.
The original forecast called for the bulk of snow accumulation to hit Omaha after 3 pm on Saturday, but the snow started falling mid-morning and almost immediately began to accumulate on the artificial playing surface at Morrison Stadium. A facilities staff of more than 20, armed with shovels and three snow removal machines could not keep up with the heavy snow, forcing the postponement of the contest.
The Bluejays (20-2-0) and Bulls (13-3-4) are playing for a berth in the College Cup and will look to do so with a clear field on Sunday at 1 pm (NOTE NEW TIME).
Live stats and free live video will be provided for the second December men's soccer match ever played in Omaha. Any fan with a ticket from Saturday, can still use that same ticket on Sunday. Tickets are still available for purchase as well, with the Morrison Stadium Ticket Office opening at 11 am on Sunday.
