
Men's Tennis Falls in MVC Play to Illinois State

OMAHA, Neb. - The Creighton men's tennis team fell 7-0 to Illinois State on Saturday at Koch Tennis Center, dropping their third straight match. The Jays now sit at 7-7 on the season and 0-3 in the MVC. Illinois State improves to 12-6 and 1-0 in the Valley. Creighton will take on MVC foe Bradley tomorrow at 10:00 am from Koch Family Tennis Center.
The Jays were swept in all three doubles matches. Timon Reichelt and Alexander Pelaez defeated J.T. Christian and Billy Paluch in a close 8-6 battle in the No. 1 doubles. No. 2 and No. 3 doubles both finished with an 8-2 final, with Matej Zlatkovic and Tuomas Manner defeating Kyle Obermeier and Sean Mathison in the No. 2 doubles and Filip Miljevic and Skip Span topping Ryan Norman and Gabe Nagy in the No. 3 spot.
All six singles matches were completed in straight sets, as none of the Jays went to the three sets with their Redbird opponents. Paluch was defeated 6-2, 6-3 by Alexander Pelaez in the No. 1 singles while Christian fell 6-4, 6-2 in the No. 2 singles to Filip Miljevic.
Tuomas Manner defeated Obermeier 6-3, 7-6 in the No. 3 singles before Matej Zlatkkovic defeated Bryan Lube 7-6, 6-2 in the No. 4 singles. Nagy was defeated by duplicate 6-1, 6-1 scores in the No. 5 singles, followed by Norman falling 7-5, 6-4 to Juan Varon in the No. 6 singles.
