EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The Creighton baseball team was in the middle of a pitchers duel on Friday when heavy rains and lightning came into the area, forcing the Jays and Purple Aces to suspend play until tomorrow at 2:00 pm. Creighton (33-12, 10-5) and Evansville (27-17, 6-8) were scoreless heading into the sixth frame when lightning was detected in the area, forcing umpires and coaches to clear the two teams off the field. Creighton's Jonas Dufek had seven strikeouts through the stopping point, while Kyle Lloyd of Evansville had five.
The two teams will play the remainder of tonight's game tomorrow, followed by the start of the second game following. The series finale will be played on Sunday at 1:00 pm, all pending the stormy weekend weather in Evansville. Check into www.gocreighton.com for the latest on schedule changes and information.
