Competitors Announced For Friday's Bluejay Madness

OMAHA, Neb. -- Creighton officials have announced the competitors for tomorrow night's 3-Point Contest and Slam Dunk contests at the program's third annual Bluejay Madness. The event will be video webcast free of charge on GoCreighton.com for those unable to attend.
The 3-point contest field contains eight co-ed teams, with each team member shooting for 30 seconds each. Headlining the field is the defending championship team of Jordan Garrison and Grant Gibbs. Other pairings include Jasmin Corbin/Taylor Stormberg, McKenzie Fujan/Avery Dingman, Ally Jensen/Doug McDermott, Sammy Jensen/Isaiah Zierden, Tessa Leytem/Ethan Wragge, Sarah Nelson/Josh Jones and Carli Tritz/Jahenns Manigat. The top four teams from the quarterfinal round will advance to the semifinals, with the top two semifinal teams advancing to the finals.
The field for the Slam Dunk contest contains four men. Austin Chatman is back to defend his title but will be challenged by Will Artino, Nevin Johnson and Mogboluwaga Oginni. Each contestant will get two dunks.
In addition, both the women and men will have 16-minute intrasquad scrimmages. Below are the teams for those games.
Women
"White" Team: Alexis Akin-Otiko, Marissa Janning, Sammy Jensen, Alyssa Kamphaus, Tessa Leytem, Carli Tritz.
"Blue" Team: Jasmin Corbin, McKenzie Fujan, Jordan Garrison, Ally Jensen, Sarah Nelson, Brianna Rollerson.
Men
"White" Team: Austin Chatman, Avery Dingman, Gregory Echenique, Josh Jones, Joe Kelling, Mogboluwaga Oginni, Ethan Wragge, Isaiah Zierden.
"Blue" Team: Will Artino, Grant Gibbs, Geoffrey Groselle, Nevin Johnson, Jahenns Manigat, Doug McDermott, Alex Olsen, Taylor Stormberg, Andre Yates.
The event, presented by First National Bank of Omaha, will begin at 8:00 p.m., and includes introductions of the players from both the women's and men's teams and comments to the crowd by head coaches Greg McDermott and Jim Flanery, in addition to the 3-point contest, slam dunk contest and team scrimmages.
Admission to D.J. Sokol Arena is free, seating is general admission and venue doors will open at 7:15 p.m.
Concessions will be available for purchase throughout the event and 2012-13 roster sheets for each team will be available free of charge.
The event is scheduled to run for about 90 minutes and players from both teams will be available for autographs at the event's conclusion.
CU Athletics Ticket Office personnel will be available throughout the event for fans interested in purchasing men's or women's basketball season tickets.
