Cross Country Teams Take 2nd & 3rd in Stillwater at Cowboy Jamboree

STILLWATER, OKLA. - The Creighton women' finished second while the men finished third on Saturday in cross country action at the Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater, Okla. Creighton, Oklahoma State, Oral Roberts, Belmont, Abilene Christian and Incarnate Word were the six Division I schools participating in this year's run.
Oklahoma State swept the titles by claiming team victories on both the men and women's side.
Oklahoma State's Kirubel Erassa finished the men's 8K run first overall with a time of 24:19. Oklahoma State's Monika Juodeskaite won the women's 5K event with a 17:16 time.
Courtney Sawle was the top finisher for the Bluejays once again, finishing seventh overall in the 5K run with a time of 18:43. Coming in second for the Bluejays, Maddie Ivy finished 10th with a time of 19:07. Emily Mauser and Emily Peterson finished 17th and 18th each running a 19:54 time. Sophomore Vanessa Miller finished 20th with a time of 20:02 to round out the top five for CU.
Garrett Kenyon was the top Bluejay on the men's squad in this week's race. Kenyon finished ninth in the 8K with a time of 26:13. Drew Prescott finished second for the Bluejays with a 27:14 time to finish 14th overall. Patrick Reinschmidt and Eric Klein finished 19th and 20th with times of 27:19 and 27:23. David Rice finished 22nd overall with a time of 27:38 to round out the men's top five.
The Bluejays will be back in action at the Briar Cliff Invitational on Oct. 11 at Adams Homestead and Nature Preserve in Sioux City, S.D.
