Sooners pull away late, take 87-74 decision
NORMAN, Okla. -- Buddy Hield scored a career-high 33 points and scored all the points in a key 9-0 run down the stretch as third-ranked Oklahoma remained one of the nation's last eight unbeaten teams with an 87-74 win over visiting Creighton men's basketball on Saturday in Norman.
Creighton fell to 7-4 with the loss, while OU improved to 8-0.

Jordan Woodard had eight of those points for the hosts. OU took its first double-digit lead at 26-16 as Hield heated up to score nine points. Creighton would battle to get within seven points (45-38) at halftime as Khyri Thomas drained a corner three-pointer in the final seconds of the half. CU had a chance to tie it at 60-all on a deep three-point by by Zierden, but it rimmed out with 10:20 left, and later had a chance for the lead only to turn it over with 8:48 left and down by one.
Oklahoma took advantage. Hield sank two foul shots with 8:45 left, and Dinjiyl Walker's lay-up pushed the margin to five and snapped a nearly seven-minute field goal drought for the Sooners. It became an 8-0 run on two foul shots from Dante Buford with 6:28 to play before Zierden ended the run when he buried a three-pointer from the corner. James Milliken halved the six-point deficit with a three-pointer on the next trip.
After CU got within 71-68 on a Cole Huff trifecta, Hield got loose with seven points in a 63-second span to salt the game away. His steal and breakaway dunk started the flurry, and he would can consecutive jumpers from the left wing as the lead returned to double-figures at 80-68.
