NEW YORK – Creighton men's tennis junior Quinn Dippel earned BIG EAST Men's Tennis Player of the Week honors from the conference office Wednesday.
Playing at No. 2 singles and No. 3 doubles during Creighton's undefeated spring break trip in Florida, Dippel went 7-1 over the past two weeks with a perfect 5-0 record at the singles position.
Dippel defeated opponents from Omaha, Lehigh, Hampton, Connecticut College and Bucknell without dropping a set. He surrendered only six games or less in four of those decisions.
The Lindsborg, Kan. native is one of three Creighton players with double-digit win totals this season with a singles record of 10-3.
The award marks the first BIG EAST weekly award for the third-year player. Dippel also claimed Player of the Week honors from the Missouri Valley Conference as a freshman on March 20, 2013.
The BIG EAST weekly laurel is the second secured by a Creighton men's player this year. Senior Elliott Baker won the award on Feb. 24.
The Bluejays' 11-2 record is the program's best mark through 13 games since the early 1980's.
Creighton is back in action on March 28 at Wichita State.
