
Baseball Faces Stetson Over the Weekend

OMAHA, Neb. - The Creighton Baseball team will begin a three-game series with the Stetson Hatters on Friday, March 27 at 6:30 pm.
Creighton vs. Stetson Series
Stetson owns a 6-3-1 series edge on Creighton, but the two teams have not met since Coach Servais took over the Bluejays in 2004. The last meeting cme on March 12, 2003, a 3-2 Stetson win. Stetson won both games in 2003, Creighton's last win in the series came on May 12 in Omaha, 7-3 in seven innings.

Scouting the Hatters (2015: 14-12, 0-0 Atlantic Sun)
The Hatters have played a strong non-conference schedule, including three games against teams ranked in the top-25. Stetson posted a win over #23 Florida International on Feb. 18 (12-2).
Last weekend the Hatters took two of three from LIU Brooklyn, then dropped a midweek game to #6 Florida, 9-6.
Stetson is a team that can bring the offense, with a team average of .294. Three starters (Josh Powers, Cory Reid and Garrett Russini) have a .330 average or better. Four more Hatters boast an average of .300 and above.
On the mound the Hatters have struggled a bit, allowing 236 hits in 230 innings. The result is a team ERA of 3.87.
The trip to Omaha will be just Stetson's second road series of the season. The Hatters went 1-2 at Mississippi in early March. On the season Stetson is 2-4 on the road, playing three single-games away from home.
Scouting the Bluejays (2015: 12-7)
The Bluejays have won four straight, including an 4-3 (14) win over Air Force on Wednesday night.
The bats have started to come around over the last eight games (7-1 during that stretch) as the team batting average is .302. On the season the Bluejays are hitting .255 (19 games)
On the mound Creighton has also shown significant improvement. The Bluejays ERA for the season is 3.26, but over the last eight games it is just 1.99.
