Scouting the Golden Gophers (2015: 3-7)
It has already been an exciting week for the Golden Gophers as Minnesota traveled to Fort Myers, Florida to play the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday.
Following the 3-1 loss, the Golden Gophers returned home and will now play three games in the home of the College World Series over the weekend.
Minnesota opened the 2015 season with back-to-back weekends in Texas as the Golden Gophers were swept by No. 3 Houston and again by No. 10 Texas to start the year 0-7.
Last weekend Minnesota did some cleaning of its own by sweeping the series from Florida Gulf Coast.
Through 10 games the Golden Gophers have struggled at the dish, hitting a combined .208 as a team. Just three players, Matt Fielder (.324), Toby Hanson (.320) and Jordan Smith (.278), are hitting over .225.
On the mound Minnesota has a team ERA of 6.05, issuing 44 walks in 83.1 innings.
The stats, however, are a bit misleading as the Golden Gophers have played seven games against teams ranked No. 10 (four at Texas) and No. 3 (three at Houston).
