Men's Tennis Set For Friday Night Showdown With Illinois State

OMAHA, Neb. — Creighton Men's Tennis will look to continue its winning ways as the Bluejays play host to Illinois State on Friday, Jan. 29 at 7:00 p.m. Friday's match-up will take place at the Hanscom Tennis Center in Omaha.
GETTING UP TO SPEED
The Bluejays (1-2) will enter Friday's match coming off of a strong showing one week ago against North Dakota. Creighton defeated North Dakota convincingly, 7-0, in the Bluejays' home opener last Friday.
Five of Creighton's six singles wins in the match came in straight-set fashion, including a 6-2, 6-0 showing by Quinn Dippel at the top position.
Alex Koca and Harrison Lang each earned 6-2, 6-2 victories at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively. Meanwhile, Brooks Kendall and Jake Glazer secured straight-set wins at the fifth and sixth spots, respectively.
Aaron Chalstrom withstood a comeback bid by North Dakota's Travis Lau to win at No. 4 Singles, 6-1, 4-6, 10-4.
Chalstrom paired up with Dippel to win at No. 2 Doubles, while the duo of Kendall and Lang earned a commanding 6-0 victory at the third doubles spot. Koca teamed with August Nysted to win, 6-4, at No. 1 Doubles.
SCOUTING NORTH DAKOTA
Friday's match will be the first spring outing away from home for the Redbirds (2-0).
Illinois State earned a pair of wins in Bloomington, Ill., last weekend, downing Green Bay, 4-3, and Chicago State, 6-1.
