Cross Country Teams Both Seventh at BIG EAST Championships

MEN'S RESULTS | WOMEN'S RESULTS
BRONX, N.Y. -- Both the Creighton men's and women's cross country teams finished in seventh place at the BIG EAST Cross Country Championships presented by Jeep, contested Friday afternoon at Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, N.Y.
The Georgetown men and the Providence women repeated as the winners of the team titles. The Hoya men placed six runners among the top 12 finishers. The Friar women had four runners finish among the top eight competitors.

Villanova had both individual winners. Senior Patrick Tiernan set a BIG EAST record with his fourth consecutive individual championship in the men's 8K race. His time was 24:18.2. Senior Angel Piccirillo won the women's 6K in 20:49.6.
Patrick Reinschmidt finished in 27th place with a time of 25:48.7 to lead the Bluejay men. Fellow senior Eric Klein was in 68th place after 2.1 kilometers before making huge strides midway through the race. He would finish in 39th place with a time of 26:17.9
Sophomore Ty Medd finished 51st place after a 26:38.8 clocking, while Chase Howard (26:46.9, 55th place) and junior Jacob Ohnstad (26:49.4, 57th place) rounded out the Bluejay scoring contingent.Â
The Creighton women raced three juniors and three sophomores en route to its seventh-place showing, with sophomore Emily Marrtin leading the way. Martin finished 24th with a time of 22:15.8, not far ahead of classmate Megan Paule's 35th place finish in 22:58.3
Junior Grace Mimmack raced to 43rd place with a 23;19.6 clocking, and Adriana Kammerer took 52nd after crossing the finish line in 23:43.9. Maile Shigemasa placed 64th with a 24:32.2 time.
The CU men ran without the services of senior Garrett Kenyon, while Vanessa Miller did not race on the women's side. Both have consistently proven to be among the team's top two runners in past meets.
Creighton returns to the course on Friday, Nov. 11, when it heads to Iowa City, Iowa, for the NCAA Midwest Regional.
