Creighton never trails in 22nd straight home-opening win
OMAHA, Neb. -- Newcomers Marcus Foster and Justin Patton combined for 31 points to help No. 22 Creighton Men's Basketball to an 89-82 win over visiting UMKC in front of 16,686 fans at CenturyLink Center Omaha on Friday.
Creighton (1-0) never trailed while winning its 22nd straight home-opener, the ninth time in the last 17 seasons it didn't trail in its home opener. Creighton led by as much as 28 (76-48) with 13:45 to play before UMKC rallied to within seven points in the final 30 seconds, but elected not to foul as the clock ran out.
Foster, a transfer from Kansas State, led all players with 19 points in his Bluejay debut. Maurice Watson Jr. opened his senior season with 17 points and nine assists, tying a career-best by making 3-of-3 three-pointers. He also led CU with two steals.
Also in double-figures were Khyri Thomas (16) and Zach Hanson, who scored 11 points in 11 minutes off the bench.

UMKC was led by Martez Harrison, who scored 15-of-17 points in the second half and also added five steals. Three other Kangaroos added 10 points, including Darnell Tillman, Dashawn King and Duane Clark.
