Faber Leads Three-Point Barrage as Bluejay WBB Downs UNO, 82-45

Bluejays Tie Program Record with 16 Treys
Omaha, Neb. -- Junior Audrey Faber delivered a game-high 24 points, including 12 from long range, as the Creighton women's basketball team routed Nebraska-Omaha 82-45 on Wednesday, Dec. 7. Despite hitting starting the game 1-of-9 from three-point land, the Bluejays tied the program record with 16 treys in the win, shooting 16-of-31 (51.6) from beyond the arc.
The win pushed the Bluejays to 4-3 on the season, while the Mavericks fell to 4-5.
After struggling through the opening five minutes, the Bluejays trailed 8-3 (4:43), but senior Lauren Works got things started for the Bluejays with a long ball from the right corner and the Creighton shooters woke up. A bucket from sophomore Ali Greene with 2:34 left in the period knotted the game at 8-8. UNO grabbed the lead twice more, but the quarter ended 13-13.
Faber sizzled through the second period, hitting four from the field and four more from the free throw line to score 14 points in the period. The period began with a layup from Faber to open the quarter, keying a 15-2 run for the Bluejays in the first five minutes. She scored seven of the Bluejays points during the stretch, knocking down a trifecta and another layup. Creighton went on to close the half with another 7-1 run to take a 38-21 lead into the locker room.
Creighton showed its mastery of Nebraska-Omaha's 2-3 zone in the third as the Bluejays were 6-of-7 from long range, stretching their advantage to as much as 32 at 58-26 (2:41). The Mavericks got no closer than 27 throughout the final period, trailing by 40 (82-42) in the closing moments.
Faber's 24 led all scorers, while junior Bailey Norby reached double-figures with 10. Nebraska-Omaha got 13 from Mikaela Shaw and 11 from Jay Bridgeman in the loss.
Wednesday marked the fourth time the Bluejays have hit 16 three-pointers in a single game, the last two times coming during the 2012-13 season. The last time was in a 70-63 Bluejays' win at Evansville on Jan. 5, 2013.
Riding a three-game win streak, the Bluejays return to the floor on Saturday, Dec. 10 as Creighton battles Northern Iowa at 2:00 pm in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
