The Pete and Laura Leddy Baseball Endowed Scholarship Fund to honor Jim Hendry was established in 2016 by Pete and Laura Leddy in honor of former Creighton Baseball head coach Jim Hendry.  The endowment was first announced last Saturday night during the 2016 Creighton Athletics Hall of Fame Banquet where CU's 1991 College World Series team was inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Â
While providing scholarship support for current Baseball student-athletes, this endowment also shows appreciation for Hendry's success at Creighton and his dedication to the program since his departure. A critical element to continued program success was his passion for personally connecting with each of his student-athletes. This endowment is a method for others to join, as a team, to honor Jim's legacy. The fund will provide a lasting impact on the Creighton Baseball program.
Â
"Jim's passion, commitment and dedication to the development of the student-athlete was always the top priority for him, the baseball field is simply where he worked his magic" said Pete Leddy.
Â
Pete Leddy, a former Creighton Baseball student-athlete received his B.A. in psychology from Creighton University in 1985 and Ph.D. from Illinois Institute of Technology in 1991. He is the Executive Vice President of Global Human Resources & Corporate Integrity at NuVasive and resides in San Diego, Calif., with his wife, Laura, and their children Olivia and Matt.
Â
Pete and Laura's goal is to have Hendry's former student-athletes and supporters of the baseball program get involved to make an impact.Â
Â
"Our hope is others will contribute to the fund in order to support the continued success and legacy of Creighton Baseball."
Â
