Bluejays will close season on Saturday vs. Butler
CAYCE, S.C. -- Second-seeded Marquette topped seventh-seeded Creighton, 4-0, at the BIG EAST Men's Tennis Championships in Cayce, S.C., on Friday afternoon.
The loss drops Creighton (9-10) out of title contention at the BIG EAST Championships, and into a consolation match on Saturday at 3 p.m. Central. CU will face sixth-seeded Butler.
Marquette (13-9) took the doubles point with victories at No. 3 and No. 1, but not without a valiant fight from the Bluejay side.
Singles play was also tighter than the score would indicate, as two of the matches went to first set tiebreakers. In the end, the Golden Eagles got the victory with singles wins at No. 4, No. 2 and No. 5,
