Scouting No. 14 Creighton (2-1-1)
Creighton improved to 2-1-1 with a 3-0 victory on Friday night against Penn.
Joel Rydstrand scored a pair of goals against the Quakers, and now leads the team in goals this season with two.
The Bluejays have a 65-32 advantage in shots, but have scored only six goals through four contests.
Creighton has two shutouts and Alex Kapp has allowed only two goals and made 12 saves while playing all 380 minutes in goal.
The Bluejays returned five starters and 10 letterwinners from last year's squad that ended the season in the quarterfinals of the NCAA tournament and led the country with 19 wins.Â
Scouting UMKC (1-2-0)
The Kangaroos fell to 1-2-0 with a 2-0 loss to Drake on Saturday night.
UMKC has scored only two goals, with each coming during a 2-1 victory over Milwaukee. The Roos were shutout by both Tulsa and Drake.
Tuesday's match is the Kangaroos' first of four consecutive road matches.
UMKC returned eight starters from a team that finished eighth in the WAC last season.
Series History vs. Kangaroos
Creighton leads the all-time series against UMKC 11-2-1. The Bluejays have won the last three matches against the Roos with three shutouts, including a 2-0 victory in the last meeting between the schools on Sept. 30, 2014 at Morrison Stadium.
Last Time Out
Powered by a pair of second-half goals from Joel Rydstrand, and Peter Prescott's first career game-winner, the Bluejays defeated Penn 3-0 on Friday night as part of the Socctoberfest doubleheader at Morrison Stadium.
Creighton recorded its second shutout of the season.
Two-Goal Match
Joel Rydstrand's two-goal performance on Friday was the first multi-goal performance for a Bluejay since Ricky Lopez-Espin scored a pair of goals against Drake during the second round of the 2015 NCAA Tournament at Morrison Stadium.
Creighton had three multi-goal performances last season (Fabian Herbers [9/6], Ricardo Perez [10/24], Ricky Lopez-Espin [11/22]).
Offensive Outburst
Creighton doubled its goal total during Friday's win against Penn. The Bluejays entered the contest with three goals in three matches before scoring three goals against the Quakers.
Prescott Doubles Career Goal Total
Sophomore defender Peter Prescott scored a goal during Friday's match for his second career goal.
He also scored last season against Villanova (Oct. 24).
Prescott's goal on Friday was his first game-winning score as a Bluejay.
Kapp On Goal
Senior Alex Kapp notched his second shutout as a Bluejay on Friday against Penn. He had two clean sheets all of last season in 10 starts at Boston College.
Kapp now has nine career shutouts through 40 career starts in goal.
He also has 12 saves through four matches this season, while allowing two goals in 380 minutes of action.
Franke Lends Helping Foot
Noah Franke picked up two assists with one during each of Creighton's matches last week against Nebraska-Omaha and Penn.
Franke had three assists all of last season.
Home Sweet Home
Tuesday is the third of five consecutive home matches for the Bluejays. Creighton will go 22 days between road matches (Sept. 2-24).
The Bluejays have played five consecutive home matches during the regular season six other times ('83, '95, '97, '04, '05, '06) before this season. Creighton has picked up at least three victories during the six previous five-game home stands.
Creighton played eight consecutive matches at Morrison Stadium during the 2011 season when the Bluejays concluded the season with three home contests, hosted the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament and first three rounds of the NCAA tournament before advancing to the College Cup in Hoover, Ala.
