Scouting No. 14 Creighton (3-1-1)
The Bluejays posted consecutive shutouts during their past two contests against Pennsylvania and UMKC.
Creighton defeated the Quakers 3-0 on Sept. 9 before dropping the Kangaroos 3-0 on Tuesday night. Â
Joel Rydstrand and Riggs Lennon each have two goals to lead the Bluejay offense which scored only three times during the first three contests, but has tallied three goals in each of the past two.
The Bluejays have averaged 18.8 shots per match, and taken a total of 42 corner kicks.
Creighton has held opponents to 7.4 shots and 0.4 goals per contest.
The Bluejays have three shutouts and Alex Kapp has allowed only two goals and made 16 saves while playing all 470 minutes in goal.
Creighton returned five starters and 10 letterwinners from last year's squad that ended the season in the quarterfinals of the NCAA tournament and led the country with 19 wins. Â
Scouting Seton Hall (2-3-1)
The Pirates enter Saturday's contest following a 3-1 loss at Delaware on Wednesday.
Seton Hall played in three consecutive overtime matches prior to Wednesday's setback and went 1-1-1 during that span.
Andres Arcila leads the Pirates with 10 points from four goals and two assists, and Jordan Kinoshi has scored a goal in each of the past two matches.
Peyton Elder made his first career start in goal on Wednesday and recorded three saves, while Julian Spindler is 2-2-1 with 23 saves and a 1.48 goals against average.
The Pirates are in the middle of a four-game stretch of road matches.
Series History vs. Pirates
Creighton leads the all-time series against Seton Hall 2-1-0.
Four different Bluejays scored as Creighton picked up a 4-2 victory over the Pirates during the first match of the 2015 BIG EAST regular-season schedule. The Pirates led 2-1 before the Bluejays scored three goals in the final 11 minutes. Â
Creighton and Seton Hall did not meet before the schools became BIG EAST foes prior to the 2013 season.
Creighton's Conference Opener Success
The Bluejays are a perfect 3-0 in BIG EAST regular-season openers.
Creighton's last regular season conference-opener loss occured during the 2011 season at Missouri State as a member of the Missouri Valley Conference, and the last conference home-opener loss occured in 2009, also to Missouri State.
The Bluejays are 9-2-2 in conference home-openers at Morrison Stadium and 21-2-2 all-time.
Conference Match For Homecoming
This season marks the second time the Blujeays have started the BIG EAST schedule with a Homecoming match. Creighton opened the 2013 slate against St. John's (Sept. 21) in the first BIG EAST regular-season conference matchup in any sport at Creighton. The Bluejays defeated the Red Storm 1-0 in double overtime.
Last Time Out
Myles Englis and Ricky Lopez-Espin provided a pair of first-half goals and Riggs Lennon scored during the second half on a free kick to give Creighton a 3-0 victory over UMKC on Tuesday night.
The Bluejays also recorded their third shutout of the season.
Everybody Takes A Shot
The Bluejays tallied a season-high 29 shots, including 12 on goal, during Creighton's 3-0 win on Tuesday night against UMKC.
10 different Bluejays recorded at least one shot.
Tuesday's shot total was the most by Creighton since the team posted 39 against Villanova last season (Oct. 24).
Forward Attack
Through the first four matches, only one of Creighton's six goals had been scored by a foward. That changed on Tuesday, as all three goals of the Bluejays' goals against UMKC came from forwards (Myles Englis, Ricky Lopez-Espin and Riggs Lennon).
Offensive Outburst
Creighton was held to three goals through the first three contests of 2016, but tallied three goals in each of its past two outings.
The Bluejays defeated Penn 3-0 on Sept. 9 before posting a 3-0 win against UMKC on Tuesday night.
Kapp On Goal
Senior Alex Kapp notched his third shutout as a Bluejay on Tuesday against UMKC. He had two clean sheets all of last season in 10 starts at Boston College.
Kapp now has 10 career shutouts through 41 career starts in goal.
He also has 16 saves through five matches this season, while allowing two goals in 470 minutes of action.
The senior has not allowed a goal the past 277 minutes and 22 seconds; a span that streches to the 13th minute of Creighton's match against UNO (Sept. 5).
