Women's Soccer Battles Seton Hall to 1-1 Draw

South Orange, N.J. -- Undone by a late Pirate penalty kick, the Creighton women's soccer team settled for a 1-1 draw at Seton Hall on Sunday, Oct. 8.
Following Sunday's match Creighton is now 2-9-3 on the season and 0-3-2 in BIG EAST play, while Seton Hall moved to 0-8-5 overall and 0-2-3 in conference action.
The Bluejays got on the scoreboard first as sophomore Jaylin Bosak battled to send an unassisted goal into the back of the net in the 33rd minute of play. The scoring play began with Bosak firing a shot toward the net that drew Pirate keeper Anna MacLean out of position and was stopped by a Seton Hall defender. Bosak gathered the rebound then sent another attempt sizzling into the net for her second goal of the season.
The match remained 1-0 until late in the second period when the Pirates drew a foul on senior Mackenzie Graybill to collect a penalty kick. Julia Stripe took the shot, beating Creighton goalkeeper McKenzie Meola to the right to knot the match at 1-1.
Each squad pushed to secure the win in the overtime sessions, but the contest ended in a draw.
Creighton was outshot in the match 17-11, while Seton Hall held a 6-0 edge in corners earned as well.
Creighton returns to the pitch on Sunday, Oct. 15 at 1:00 pm as the Bluejays will honor seniors Darby Hugunin and Graybill prior to the match.
