About Washington
About #5 UCLA
The Huskies enter the South Point Tournament at 1-2 in what can easily be considered a
rebuilding year.
Washington opened the season with a surprising home loss to Idaho State, rebounded to defeat BYU and lost a road contest to #9 Ohio State.
Sophomore Amber Melgoza leads Washington in scoring at 13.0 ppg as well as rebounding with six per contest.
Keys to the Game w/Washington
Outlasting the Husky pressure: Expect Washington to press more than most teams the Bluejays will see this season. With a limited bench, Creighton's ability to handle the basketball against the press will be critical.
Rebounding: Washington has been out rebounded by over six boards per game this season. The Bluejays must crash the boards to be successful.
Control the arc: Washington has connected from long range better than 10 times in each of its first three contests. The Bluejays must force the threes that Washington takes to be contested.
Scouting #5 UCLA (3-1)
UCLA entered the week undefeated, including a victory over then #3 Baylor, 82-68. The Bruins, however, were facing the top-ranked Connecticut Huskies on Tuesday which resulted in a 78-60 loss.
Expected to claim the Pac-12 championship this season, the Bruins are led by Jordin Canada and Monique Billings who are both averaging 16.8 points per game. Just a step back is Kennedy Burke at 14.3 ppg.
